Google Slowly Taking Over the World

The first article talks about how Google has access to essentially all of it's users information, potentially social security and credit card numbers. With it's increasing success, more concerns are raised. This company is the only one with such vast information and power that could be easily used to abuse it's users.

More importantly, Google is looking into beginning a program in which it can analyze users through gaming. By the games played and how they are played, Google believes that it can use this information to create a profile of the user and then send ads that correlate with the picture they have created for this person.

As well, the company is already tracking which sites you visit and has a record of your interests, essentially. It can then send things to you that it believes you will find interesting.

The company also has the power to crush the client-base of online companies, such as the one "comdemned to Google Hell". It was lowered on the match list and the company took a terrible blow financially as a result. Google is an important tool to online business.

The question remains of what will Google do in the future. How far will they go? How much can they control?

Apple Considers Adopting New "All-you-can-eat" Business Model

A recent article in the Financial times reported that Apple is considering a new business model that could essentially "give customers free access to the entire iTunes music library in exchange for paying a premium for its iPod and iPhone devices." Rumors of such a system have been floating around internet blogs for some time now, but reports suggest that this new business model could soon be given the go-ahead.

Essentially users will be given unlimited access to iTunes' music library in exchange for paying a premium for its iPod and iPhone devices. Current negotiations hinge on a dispute over the price that Apple will pay music companies for access to their music libraries. Consumers would pay a premium of up to $100 for unlimited access to music for the lifetime of the device. They are also looking into the possibility of a monthly subscription model costing about $7 - $8 per month.

This new model replicates an identical plan launched by Nokia at the end of last year. However this seemingly revolutionary idea disappointed many due to the various hidden charges, DRM technicalities, and subscription catches. Many users fear that Apple will follow a similar route and that this new business model will not be all it's cracked up to be. Many bloggers are already casting their doubts and have little hope that it will in fact be much different from Nokia's attempt at such a system.
